The Mary, Queen of Peace

Intercessory Prayer Team

The parishes of St. Ann, St. John of the Woods and Visitation are forming a prayer team devoted to praying for the work of Christ's Mission in our parishes and for the special personal intentions of our parishioners.

As a team, we will spend time in Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, to offer prayers for these specific intentions. We need parishioners from each of our 3 parishes to form this prayer team. Responsibilities would include a committed time in Adoration each month (or scheduled prayer time at home) and monthly meetings with the prayer team.

If you are interested in joining, please contact Bob Gummersall at frgummer@protonmail.com.

Wide meeting on Ministries

We are inviting you to a general meeting on Ministries here at St. John of the Woods on Wednesday September 29, in Parish Hall, beginning at 7:00pm

We will divide into Ministry / Activities groups to welcome newcomers and old timers, answer questions, clarify the ministry, set a time for training if appropriate, arrange schedules, etc. The meeting will last about an hour.

Please invite anyone you know who would like to join in serving our church and broader community. Thank you again for your generosity that reflects the Lord's love and care.

Catechetical Certification Program

The Archdiocese of Seattle is offering a 6-to 8-month Catechetical Certification Program (CCP) for parish staff, volunteers, adult learners, and parents of homeschoolers. This program provides the foundation for knowing, living, and teaching our Catholic faith.

The program promotes catechesis that is foundational, sequential and pastoral, to learn both the “what” and the “how” of authentically passing on the treasures of our Catholic faith. The program includes a series of classes presenting the Tasks of Catechesis and Methodology, along with a series of online videos from the Augustine Institute’s Symbolon program, whose content provides elements of how to know and live the Catholic faith.

Carlos Carrillo, director of Faith Formation from Seattle is currently setting up the Catechetical Certification Program in our regional parishes. It will be conducted at St. Ann on Saturdays. Each class is 3 hours for a total of 7 classes: 10/23, 12/4, 1/22/2022, 2/19, 3/26, 4/30, 6/4

The Formation/Training classes include watching and studying videos corresponding to the Tasks of Catechesis and Methodology, attending a retreat, observing and preparing for teaching classes. Participants will receive a Catechetical Certification Certificate after the completion of the program.

Program cost is $75 per participant.

For your information

  • Archdiocesan Pastoral Plan
Archbishop Paul Etienne with the help of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council has initiated an Archdiocesan Pastor Plan. The plan will focus on helping us to: Encounter Jesus Christ, Become Disciples, and Make Disciples. Regularly in the bulletin we will have a short article on the Pastoral Plan Activities and Prayer to guide you and your family to deepen your faith and love for Jesus as his beloved disciples. Please pick a time when the family can be together, you and your spouse can be together, or perhaps you can join with grandchildren and family members to enjoy the activities and prayer.

    Dialogue:
The Corona Virus epidemic has made us aware of many people who generously serve others from medical personnel and school staffs to people serve us in a variety of ways (garbage collection, store clerks, cleaner, etc. God is generous with his blessings. How has God blessed you in ways the enable you to help or serve others? Talk about some of these ways.
    Activity:
Wednesday is the feast of the Archangels: Sts. Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. Look up some information about them on the internet, in your Bible, etc. How do they serve? How might you celebrate the feast? (Find a picture of the Archangels on the internet, print it and place it on the kitchen table for all to see, have each person draws a picture of an angel, light a candle before the picture, ask the archangels to intercede with God for you and your family.
